Martin

Hi Martin, it’s nice to see you at the office!

Hi Léna! Yeah, I was in the area so I thought I’d use my time wisely and pop by!

Thanks for joining me today for yet another employee interviews! May I start by asking you about your job?

Sure. I am one of Fleetback’s Account Managers in France, so my job is to develop existing accounts, and to find new ones. I first worked as a salesman for several brands in France. I switched to Fleetback so see more of the supplier world and its digital aspects.

So you’ve always worked in the automotive industry, but in a very different sub-branch! Do you feel like there are things that remain the same everywhere?

I definitely noticed that everywhere I worked, there was a customer relationship aspect which was important. Each brand or company may have a different vision for it, but the goal is the same for all: establishing relationships based on trust.

So what is your day-to-day like?

I do my own prospection, and I get a lot of new customers based on recommendations from existing clients. I visit my customers regularly to check that they have everything they need, make sure that everyone knows how to use our tools, and to follow up on their activities.

You do a lot of customer relationship then! Would you say you’re a very organized person?

I think that’s a requirement for the job, because we’re on the road a lot, so you have to make sure that you know who you’ll meet, where you’ll spend the night, etc. But I would say you also have to have a sense of urgency, since priorities can move so swiftly.

What do you like most about your job?

I would say it’s to have a relationship based on trust. I mean, Fleetback is a product designed to increase the trust which people place in their car dealership and garage, and I respond to that a lot! I like that we’re helping garages to move away from that negative image of the crooked car workshop, with the car mechanic doing whatever he wants on your car and sending you a bill you can’t decipher. The vast majority of workshops doesn’t work like that.

Something else I like is that I get to discuss different of automotive actors: Fleetback is now used for motorcycles, trucks, even jet skis and quads! So I’m having fun visiting a lot of different kinds of dealerships.

And are there any things you’d like to do differently?

Ideally I’d have more time, or a smaller region to cover, because if you want to have a tight relationship with customers and do things properly, then you end up being on the road a lot.

Right, how do you manage to balance your work life and your family?

Like I said, I am very organized! I try not to spend more than 2 nights away from home per week. I have the chance to be able to work from home a lot, and that also helps.

That’s why we so rarely get the chance to see you at the office!

It is! Although I have to say it’s always a pleasure. The team is so fun to work with, I like seeing you guys!

And we like seeing you too, I hope you get another chance again soon.

Likewise!
